I enjoy writing about a spread of topics, musical and otherwise. A chapter of mine appears in the Ashgate book Messiaen the Theologian (2010), and I contributed entries on Elgar and Stockhausen to the encyclopaedia Musicians and Composers of the Twentieth Century (2009). As a speaker, I’ve presented papers at academic conferences in venues from Cardiff to California.

I’ve given pre-concert talks for Paul Jacobs, the head of the organ department at the Juilliard School. I also write programme notes, and in the past have worked with the Philharmonia Orchestra of Yale (including performances in Carnegie Hall), and with the Cambridge University Musical Society.
